We visited Galicia in March 2024 and stayed in an Albergue near Lugo. We wanted to explore some of the pilgrimages that passed through Lugo. In our 5 day visit it never stopped raining! And as we walked on the caminos and explored the villages, we became enchanted by the green woodlands, the plants that seemed to never stop growing and the wild weather that passed over from the Atlantic. It reminded us of our home, in Cornwall. There was however, something even more special about Galicia! The culture, the community and the connection of past to present. As we passed through abandoned villages and saw elderly farmers, herding cattle in for the night feeds on small lanes. We decided, instantly, that Galicia is a home. It felt like a home! A place where we could become rooted, finally, start to farm, grow food and learn. We soon realised we had found a warm community of families, curious about us and ready to share their precious wisdom.

Upon visiting the city, Lugo, we felt completely captivated by the Roman wall, the cathedral and the history. The little streets felt warm and alive with young and old. Something we had truly missed since the pandemic in 2020... life, people, together, sharing!
